Alpe D’huez
Is a high altitude resort set high in the Grandes Rousses Mountains, which gives you good snow all season long. It has the 5th largest ski area in France. Alep d’huez provides a great choice for skiers of mixed ability. It is superb for beginners with gentle slopes with excellent ski schools. It is also very good for the intermediates with a wide range of blue & red runs. The advanced skiers have plenty to enjoy with the longest black run in Europe, La Sarenne. Great for snowboarders.
Les Arc
Les Arc 1800 known as the centre of action, it is the biggest and liveliest of Les Arc ski areas and the most popular, with skiing available for all levels and snowboarders.
Arc 1800 is good for beginners with a spacious nursery slope and it has some easy blue runs as well.
Avoriaz
Is a high altitude resort boasting a great snow record all season.
It is a great place for skiers of all levels and for snowboards it has excellent snowboard parks, which challenge all levels.
The centre of the village has horse drawn sledge to transport you around.
Families will love it as there is so much to do here to occupy the kids off piste.
Chamonix
They call it the “Skiing Capital of the World” It is a guaranteed snow resort, normally starts mid December until early May.
Chamonix has something to offer all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
Les Menuires
Forms part of the three valleys region. It is great for beginners and intermediates with challenging off piste skiing in the region for the more advanced and there is a good snow park with half a pipe for the snowboarders.
There is plenty of snow here throughout the season.
Meribel
Is situated in the centre of the Three Valleys-is the largest snow sports area in the world. Skiing for all abilities, it has modern ski lifts. If skiing is not really your thing then you will find plenty to do off piste too.
For Snowboarders there are two excellent snow parks.
Tignes
Forms part of the Espace killy and consists of five different areas and because of its high altitude you are guarantee snow all season. Tignes is more for the intermediate and advanced skiers but beginners can still go there as there are some nursery slopes in the three main villages.
Snowboarders will find a snow park with a half pipe there.
Val D’Isere
Forms part of the Espace Killy and is situated next door to Tignes and because of its altitude has good snow from November to May. Val D’Isere is the best-known ski resort and longest established. Val D’Isere is very chic and a favourite amongst the Celebrities.
There are slopes for the beginners but Val D’Isere is more suited to the more intermediate and advanced skiers, where they will be constantly challenged. Great for snowboarders too with two great snow parks.
Val Thorens
Is situated south of the Three Valleys making it Europe’s highest ski resort with snow from December-May, offering some of the best skiing in the world.
It caters for all levels of skiing from the beginner to the advanced and has 1 park for the snowboarders too.
Courcheval
This was the first purpose built ski resort in France and forms part of The Three Valleys and is renowned as the world’s best ski resort. Courcheval is five resorts based at different altitudes, all being very different in character with Courchevel 1550 suited to families and Courcheval 1650 appealing more to the young, with Courcheval 1850 being the more sophisticated. Courchevel Le Praz 1300 boasting more of a charming traditional village atmosphere. La Tania completes these five resorts.
Courcheval offers skiers slopes for all levels with lots of ski schools and for snowboarders which have one snow park available.
Plagne
Was the first resort to be built in the 1960’s and is made up of 4 village resorts and 7 high altitude resorts.
There is something for everyone here.
Serre Chevalier
Is set up high in the Alps with breathtaking views. It has villages dotted along it linked by ski runs, lifts and bus services, consisting of pretty mountain villages to modern indoor shopping centres. It is a great place for skiers of all levels, it is known to be one of the largest ski areas in France and the top destination for snowboarders.
